State School Spectacular
Lu'Arn Scene 5

I have a particular interest in narrative score and have been fortunate enough to work on several projects for the stage.  Dance theatre and installation provide perameters which can be both stimulating and challenging.  Extensive process work in the rehearsal room and its physical translation is deeply rewarding and I look forward to exploring more work in this area.  I am continually developing skills in music, composition and recording techniques for the music industry as well as fine arts, cinema and theatrical performance.  Sound experience also includes working extensively in Indigenous music in programming, production, and community broadcasting.

Lu’arn is contemporary dance, ritual and puppetry inspired by a traditional Boon Wurrung (Melbourne language group) story, as told by Senior Elder, Aunty Carolyn Briggs. It sings the journey of Lu’arn, an important figure in the Boon Wurrung culture as the first initiate and instructor of Men’s Lore.

Developed and directed by Jacob Boehme.   Feature length score was composed with percussionist Tania Bosak and performed live in Melbourne 2012.

An invitation to compose a piece for an Indigenous dance work as part of the State School Spectacular was a major orchestral undertaking. Composed entirely in Logic and working with choreographer Jacob Boehme, the score was then notated and performed by a live youth orchestra.  This track was used in the rehearsal room and the work staged three major performances, the opening which was televised nationally in 2010.

Thuwathu is a traditional law story from Mornington Island.  Working closely with the Songmen to develop a contemporary work, again with choreographer Jacob Boehme and performed live in FNQ.  An interesting process, working with source recordings as well as new captures, very specific song cycles and strong cultural protocols.

A 13 minute dance theatre work was first staged at NEXUS Dance Season at Gasworks Arts Park, St Kilda 2011.

This Dallas Green cover by fellow student Adam Spear was recorded and mixed at SAE 2013 and submitted for academic assessment.

During the Earth Fire Rain Wind installation I created audio to sit live in the exhibition space as audience were viewing video and sculpural works.  This section is a sample of long play soundscapes.
